<larsson> Morning CA!

<peter> Good morning!
<larsson> Hi Peter.
> Good morning chaps - It's nice to see you both so punctual! END
> Let's give Sami 5 minutes and then begin. END
> Okay, first on the agenda: what should be on the agenda of October's SDAST
> meeting? All Suggestions are welcome. END
<peter> Hm, I've quite a list to propose:
<peter> - Revised schedule, esp. for V3 (15')
<peter> - Implication of JEM-X team (also beyond SDAST) in Scientific Validation (15')
<peter> - Definition of test cases for SA/QLA (30')
> You mean our activity in scientific Validation? END
<peter> Yes, the idea is that not only ISDC personnel (which is somewhat biased) takes part in the Scientific Validation.
<peter> In addition, I think we _must_ spend significant time on nailing down the design of Sami's V3 ISSW, like an hour for the performance monitoring and two for the interactive background handling.
> Okay, that needs more detailed discussion END
<peter> If we do not settle on some clear tasks to do now, this will never bn
<peter> ... never be delivered early enough. END
> What's the chance of having our Background Tzar (Juhani) at the meeting? END
<peter> No idea. END
<peter> Sorry, still one more for the agenda:
> Everything's welcome Peter. END
<peter> - Output formats for lightcurve data and spectra (20').
<peter> ISDC would probably like to see some changes for improved XSPEC and XRONOS compability. For the lightcurves this would be quite different, it seems, but we have to discuss that. END
> That's quite a modest list, Peter! What about you Stefan - do you have
<peter> The change for LC would be to have an Index of lightcurves, one lc per source. END
> any specific concerns that should be addressed? END
<larsson> A question to Peter: "Definition of test cases" is that for our
<larsson> software or does it relate to the whole instrument?
<larsson> END
<peter> Test cases for the JEM-X scientific analysis software, i.e. the whole of my V2 scripts. END
<larsson> Fine. I agree thats a good point. END
*** smaisala (^smaisala@mizar.astro.helsinki.fi) has joined channel #jemxadr
<smaisala> Hi everybody, Sorry I'm late. END
> Hi Sami - we really need you here! We're discussing agenda items for the
> October meeting - two of the biggest items are the V3 performance/background
> components, but we'd also like to know is there's any chance Juhani will
> be able to make it to the meeting, he is our background Tzar after all.
> Do you know if he can come? END
<smaisala> I don't know what are Juhani's plans. But I can ask. END
<larsson> Peter: If there are more detailed arguments and suggestions for the
<larsson> changes in LC/SPEC formats it would be nice if you could send
<larsson> them to us before the meeting. END
<peter> Before the meeting, OK, but it will be in October. END
> Yes, let's do a little homework first so we all know what we're talking
> about END
<larsson> Thats OK. END
> I'll put an AI on Peter to send an email with LC/SPEC format proposals for
> us all to read. END
> Sami do you have any requests for agenda items? END
<smaisala> Yes, I need everyones proposals, ideas etc. for v3 components. END
> You got my list of tools I sent a few weeks ago? END
> Okay, that's another AI on everyone to send ALL ideas/proposals/desires
<smaisala> I got that and it was really nice summary what we had discussed in our last meeting. END
> for V3 performance and background handling to Sami, as a start on our
> longer discussions at the meeting. END
> Any other agenda items from you Sami? END
<smaisala> That's all folks. END
> There's a few weeks to go, so we can always add other agenda items later.
> Next on today's agenda is: a REALISTIC v3 schedule: how far have you got
> with this Peter, and what more do you need to know? END
<peter> Well, I currently have the following dates entered into ISDC's planning:
<peter> - Performa]nce Monitoring:
<peter> + First delivery of tools: Dec 17, 2001
<peter> + Update: Jan 312
<peter> Jan 31, 2002 (sorry)
<peter> The update should be ready for tests with Payload Calibration data
<peter> + Consolidated delivery: April 29, 2002
<peter> - Interactive Background Handling:
<peter> + Design ongoing up to Oct 10 (our meeting)
<peter> + First delivery: Jan 31, 2002
<peter> + Consolidated delivery: May 30, 2002
<peter> My assumption was that this was the most difficult and time-consuming task
> I agree - it is. END
<peter> - Interactive Calibration:
<peter> + First complete delivery finished by Jan 31, 2002 (ready for PLC data)
<peter> + Tests with PLC data: up to Feb 18, 2002
<peter> + Consolidated delivery: April 30, 2002
<peter> (don't ask me why we have April 29 above)
<peter> - Interactive Science Analysis (the j_***_lc stuff):
> I'll try to stick to that Peter. END
<peter> + Consolidated delivery: Dec 17, 2001
<peter> + Integration in scripts: Dec 21, 2001
<peter> + Scientific validation Jan 11-18, 2002
<peter> END
<peter> So what do you think?
<peter> END
> I agree to stick to my interactive calibration schedule - does everyone
> else think they can stick to their schedules outlined above? END
<larsson> For me mainly j_***lc, Yes END
> Sami - will you have problems? We need to know NOW, not later END
<smaisala> I was just talking with Juhani. He said he could be propably available October 9th. END
> That would be very good if he could come to the meeting! I'll be sure to
> include him on the agenda distribution list. END
<smaisala> To CAO: Juhani is available only October 9th (one day). END
> Okay, we'll schedule the V3 performance/background discussions for the 9th.
> Do you think you can meet the schedule Peter has outlined, Sami? END
<smaisala> I think the delivery dates are quite ok IF we are unaminous in our needs in v3 components. END
<peter> That's the idea, to have a _clear_ design after our discussions. END
> If there's nothing more to say on Peter's schedule let's move on to V2
> delivery and integration: what consolidated deliveries are you missing
> now Peter? END
<peter> - j_src_spectra (formal delivery)
<peter> - All of j_bkg_*** AND new models
<peter> END
<smaisala> To Peter: You will got at least j_bkg_spat_sel + databases today. END
<peter> Thanks! Still, it will probably too late to show it to Thierry on Tuesday as I have virtually no time for any integration work past 17:30 today. END
> You'll probably get the updated version of j_cor_gain today Peter. END
<peter> Good. END
> The change of the j_calib_gain_fitting interface will probaby take longer
> however. END
<peter> Yes, sure. That one is not urgent, since we just came up with it. I haven't even written the SCREW yet. ENDC
> Do we get some kind of formal apology from Roland for changing everything
> on the spur of the moment like this? END
<peter> Why should you get one? I never get one either :-) ... I did make it clear that the design we had was done following ISDC's wishes at the time.
<peter> But the change is not really on the spur of the moment - we have now more (bad) experiences with pipeline stability and thus the worry of running your program every few minutes has increased. See it as a result of our ...
<peter> dataflow tests. END
> Okay - explanation accepted! Any more comments on the v2 integration - how
> will it look for the meeting next week? END
<peter> Reasonably well, but could be better.
<peter> (Sorry, just had someone come in my office)
<larsson> Any problems with my latest j_src_spectra? END
<peter> In my opinion we have had too little progress in rounding off the ISSW so it works without problems.
<peter> To SL: not really tested yet, due to other problems with scripts and also a lack of time. Yesterday I had about 30 minuted for myself ... END
> What's still not rounded off? END
<peter> Well, stuff like the j_cor_gain problem, the not-yet redelivered j_bkg_*** and I won't know if they work before the COnsortium Meeting,. NJW must improve j_ima-src_find ....
<peter> END
> Okay, so still some loose ends.....END
> If there are no more V2 comments: Any other Business? END
<smaisala> nope. END
<peter> Will we have a limo service this time at the airport? Last time I was badly disappointed :-)
<peter> END
> It will be a danish-style limo service: you'll each get a bike with a
> basket on the front for your luggage!
> Okay let's call it a day: Goodbye, and have a good weekend everyone! END
<smaisala> Bye! END
