INTEGRAL: towards the third decade of X and Gamma ray observations
The conference "INTEGRAL: towards the third decade of X and Gamma ray
observations" will take place on 11-16 October 2021 as a hybrid event
(in-person and online meeting) in Santa Margherita di Pula, Sardinia,
Italy, organized by ESA, INAF, and the University of Geneva.
The meeting will focus on the great contributions of INTEGRAL to
our knowledge of the high-energy sky. It will also discuss which
fundamental physics questions remain unanswered and which exciting new
scientific challenges have recently emerged, in particular in the areas
of multi-messenger and transient astronomy. It will first review the
most significant results obtained in the 18 years of INTEGRAL operations
in both galactic and extragalactic astronomy and then lay out the new
scientific goals achievable by exploiting INTEGRAL’s archives and future
observations with a special focus on the interplay with future facilities.
The main scientific issues to be addressed are:
Surveys from hard X-rays to soft X-rays
Multi-messenger and time domain astronomy
Extragalactic astronomy
Galactic astronomy
Gamma-ray lines
From INTEGRAL to the next generation of X/Gamma-ray facilities: heritage and future

to be done later, pending confirmation of conference details (due to the
ongoing COVID-19 evolution).
