As scheduled, INTEGRAL was launched by a PROTON launcher from Baikonur cosmodrome (Kazakhstan) on 17 October 2002, 04:41 UT. The PROTON launcher showed a flawless performance. In the mean time the spacecraft subsystems have been activated and the spacecraft performs exceptionally well.
Instrument activation has started as scheduled.
