Abstract

We propose to carry out a sequence of 3 INTEGRAL observations accumulating about 10^6 sec of the field containing the unidentified gamma-ray source 2CG 135+01. Previous gamma-ray and X-ray observations of 2CG 135+01 show interesting time variability of the high-energy emission. We request a dedicated series of three INTEGRAL pointings that we plan to carry out in conjunction with simultaneous radio monitoring of the possible counterpart LSI +61 303 and AGILE gamma-ray monitoring of the field. Detection by INTEGRAL of intensity and spectral variability of hard X-ray and soft gamma-ray emission from LSI +61 303 would substantially contribute to resolving the problem of identification and nature of the 2CG 135+01 counterpart. The nature of 2CG 135+01 is of grat relevance in identifying a possible new class of variable gamma-ray sources near the Galactic plane.
