Abstract
The Large Magellanic Cloud contains a number of interesting objects of different nature
that fit nicely
within the IBIS and SPI fully coded fields of
view (and can be efficiently covered also with JEM-X and OMC).
Both point
like and diffuse sources can be studied, with the advantage of
having a well defined sample of
objects at a known distance.
We propose a monitoring survey of the LMC with the objective of studying
detail the hard X--ray emission from several known
sources (e.g. LMC X-1, LMC X-3, LMC X-4, A0538-66), to
measure and map
the diffuse emission fom the LMC (both continuum and lines), and to
discover new
interesting hard X-ray/gamma-ray sources.
THE OBJECTIVES OF THIS PROPOSAL ARE RELEVANT FOR DIFFERENT TAC
PANELS.
WE ASSIGNED IT TO THE ''OTHER'' CATEGORY IN PGT, BUT WE RECOMMEND ITS EVALUATION ALSO BY THE
COMPACT OBJECTS AND NUCLEOSYNTHESIS PANELS
