INTEGRAL Spectra of X-ray Bright Compton-Thin Seyfert 2s (Markowitz)
Proposal Abstract
We propose to use INTEGRAL to obtain high quality broadband hard X-ray spectra of two Compton-thin Seyfert 2s with insufficient hard X-ray coverage to date: our primary object, Mkn 348, and a secondary target, the NELG NGC 526a. Both targets are X-ray bright, and have archival, long-term averaged RXTE-PCA spectra, as well as XMM-Newton and Suzaku spectra. Our proposed observations with INTEGRAL IBIS/ISGRI and JEM-X, combined with the lower energy archival spectra, will allow us to deconvolve broadband spectral components, constrain Compton reflection, and search for high-energy continuum cutoffs. We also request simultaneous XMM-Newton observations to aid in normalizing the low-energy spectrum.
Observation Strategy (Recommended by TAC)
One observation of 600 ks using the standard Hexagonal dithering pattern centered on RA, Dec (J2000.0, in degrees) = 12.196, 31.957 (l,b = 122.276, -30.911 degrees).

Exposure Map
The exposure maps are in galactic coordinates using the Aitoff projection and units of seconds, and the colour scale is indicated at the bottom. The green lines provide the 50, 200, 350, 500 and 650 ksec contour.
